Favourite instant coffee

If you would rather drink frogspawn than coffee where you haven't lovingly harvested and ground the beans yourself, maybe move along to another thread.

If you do drink instant coffee, what's your favourite one?

I'm coming to the end of a jar of Illy Classico which was good, but thinking I might switch it up if anyone's got any suggestions?

Another vote for Azera Americano.

Whoowhoo · 24/10/2024 21:13

There is certainly a lot of Azera love here! I think I had that last time, and did like it, but I have a residual thing about Nescafé from the 80s, so might give one of the other suggestions a go.

I don't have a Lidl near me, so will look out for Lavazza, Cafe direct, Douwe Egberts, Milicano and Littles.

That's interesting about the sediment, I had noticed it but had just thought I wasn't stirring enough!

I like Little's hazelnut decaf, with hazelnut milk. Has to be decaf coz I drink an unhealthy amount!
I can't really find it locally though so buy direct from the company.

The sediment is deliberate - a bit of finely ground coffee to make it seem like a "real" coffee rather than instant. Only I don't get sediment when I make a real coffee!

Oh, that seems a bit silly if it doesn't actually add to the flavour and just makes washing up more of a pain!

I'm currently on "Specially Selected Colombian Instant Coffee Strength No 4"

I think this is what I bought earlier, looking forward to trying it.

I refuse to give Nescafe a single penny, but the Aldi version of the azera stuff is nice.

Or L'Or. Douwe Egberts. I bought a Costa one in Iceland that was nice but I don't know which one.

Nestle espresso

Won't drink any other instant and prefer this to real coffee most of the time

This ⬆️ it’s the best.

FranticFrankie · 24/10/2024 21:59

Alternate between Kenco Smooth (or Rich) and Aldi Colombian or Indonesian instant (both really nice) at the moment
I like a change 😀

I don’t like any of them now! Does anyone remember there used to be a Starbucks instant coffee that came in a really small hockey-puck-shaped tin and was quite expensive and possibly only available in Waitrose? I’d say it would have been circa 2013ish.

It was absolutely gorgeous and we even did a taste test and no one could tell the difference between it and a real Starbucks coffee. I will forever mourn its existence. The current Starbucks instant coffees taste like crap to me.

Ohh do you mean starbucks via? Don't they still do it in little sachets?

chattyness · 24/10/2024 22:15

Carte noir or Lyons rich roast for us

BridgetRandomfuck · 24/10/2024 22:17

I tend to buy what’s on special offer (classy, me! I do have a bean to cup machine as well, but sometimes you just want an instant). I happened to buy Lavazza Prontissimo Americano the other day, and it really is fab. By far the best instant I’ve tried. I’d definitely recommend it.

caringcarer · 24/10/2024 22:19

I prefer Lavassa fresh coffee from beans but will drink Nescafé Gold Blend.

Vates · 25/10/2024 05:24

Asda Gold Roast for me. Used to enjoy Kenco Smooth and Azera Americano too but they were too expensive for me. I have mine with two sweeteners and ridiculously milky! I can't even drink 'proper' coffee as find it way too strong, even a latte from a coffee shop isn't to my taste.

Coffeetostart · 25/10/2024 05:40

I drink Kenco Columbian instant coffee; thing is, it’s only available from Sainsbury’s. Glad you started this thread OP as I suspect one day it will be discontinued as it’s not stocked by other major supermarkets (used to be).

I like real coffee but it’s instant that keeps me going especially first thing in morning as per my username 🙂

Shortkiwi · 25/10/2024 05:53

As previously mentioned, Nescafé Alta Rica - it’s the only instant I’ve ever liked

MayaPinion · 25/10/2024 06:16

Original Nescafé

Whoowhoo · 25/03/2025 09:28

I've tried a few from here now. Milicano and Clipper Latin American I wasn't a fan of. I think Azera might be the best, as it's not the big granules that the others seem to be.
