And don’t like to hear any criticism about the jabs, I have found.

I dunno. The users of the jabs seem less obsessed than the majority of MN users - seeing as there seems to be a dozen threads started about weight loss jabs in Chat and AIBU every day.

ChangeHasCome · 23/10/2024 18:37

Okay and?

Forgive me for being extremely enthusiastic about something that's life changing for me. It's not like I'm telling everyone about it (unless they come to the board and ask about it) and trying to convert them to use Mounjaro.

Yet it's those who know nothing about it, hate it, are against it, peddle all sorts of incorrect information about it that can't stop blathering on about it everywhere else.

I'd say some non-weightloss jabbers are fanatical about criticising the weightloss jabbers and can't stand the happiness it brings them while they're minding their business.

Why do you want to criticise weightloss jabbers so bad and why should they accept it, hmm? What can we criticise you for so you can accept happily? Yet another way to look down on obese people, I guess.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/10/2024 18:38

To be fair, nobody taking prescribed medication is going to be particularly enthusiastic about randoms pontificating about what they haven't been prescribed because they don't have the same conditions.

I know I'm rather in favour of telling people who wrinkle their noses at Biologics (and say inane shit like 'just lose weight, get up off the sofa and stop going for the easy Big Pharma option') to fuck right off; I would imagine threads and posts like this generate a very similar reaction.

Newterm · 23/10/2024 18:47

I think they are just really excited and happy about losing weight. And bloody good for them.

SophiaJ8 · 23/10/2024 18:49

Chum was fanatical until she came off it due to cost and piled the weight back on and more, SO quickly.

She didn’t even have that much to lose in the first place, lied to get them online from somewhere dodgy.

OK.

MissConductUS · 23/10/2024 18:50

Are you an endocrinologist?

If not, how is your opinion better than the medical professional who prescribed the jabs?

The fact that they exist and are very effective for most pts does seem to give some people the rage.

doodleschnoodle · 23/10/2024 18:53

I don't know, the majority of the weight loss jab threads posted outside of the actual board seem to be made by and filled with people not on them talking about out how bad they are, so obviously people are a bit obsessed the other way too.

People will always have a strong reaction to criticism of their choices, whatever those choices are. And I think WLJs have been quite revelatory for a lot of people, and when people have experienced something like that they feel more closely attached to it.

Tulip8 · 23/10/2024 18:56

It's weird that people find it necessary to make so many posts about a drug they don't take, don't want, don't need, don't like...

At least those taking it and are evangelical about it are posting in the right place.

Bornnotbourne · 23/10/2024 19:08

I don’t know 🤷‍♀️, my partner will bore the tits off you complaining about his toxic farting and his diarrhoea if you want?? He’s not that evangelical about it but realised he was a tick time bomb in terms of his BP, cholesterol and diabetes.

spuddy4 · 23/10/2024 19:19

I wish MN would keep the weight loss jabs in the weight loss section, both pro and against posts.

They do, you just need to report them to MN and they will move them for you. Isn't that kind of them.

It's the anti brigade that are outside the boards. I'll like to see the pro threads that are anywhere but on the appropriate boards where they belong.

frecklejuice · 23/10/2024 19:26

I take Mounjaro and while I'm not fanatical I do like to chat about it ON THE WEIGHT LOSS BOARD because it's totally life changing. I'm not out there preaching to people about it and actually no one knows I'm taking it except my husband because it's no one else's business.

It's like anything, Botox, beauty treatments, weight loss surgery, people who get their nails and hair done regularly, gym memberships, people who run, people who cycle it's not for everyone but they spend their money on something that makes them happy or improves their life and no one else should comment (negatively).

The people who post about it a lot and away from the WL boards are people like you.

EffortlesslyInelegant · 23/10/2024 19:28

Goady one-plop-wonder. Boring beyond belief.
