What's your definitive packing list for a 10 day holiday?

It's somewhere hot

I feel paralysed about what to pack! It's been so long

Do you travel light or take everything with you? Fresh outfits every day?

Anything that needs washing gets rinsed through in the shower and quickly dries. I do like a change of tops for the evening after a shower but we tend not to do holidays that require dressing up.
See also Boots and bird and walking books!

BatFaceGiirll · 23/10/2024 14:17

Ooh that's so helpful! Thank you!

I'm just paralysed with the packing so I'm going to work through your list thank you

We are going to the Seychelles in a few weeks and I'd not considered walking boots but I would benefit from them as plan to do a couple of proper walks

Hot or cold climate? Iceland this year was a bit different to Sardinia last year. But bird book, underwear and walking boots are essential wherever.

countrygirl99 · 23/10/2024 14:18

For Seychelles add snorkel and flippers

DirtyDuchess · 23/10/2024 14:20

I travel v lightly, so I'd pack; 5 pairs of knickers, 3 bras, 5 light dresses, 3 shorts, 5 T-shirts, 1 pair of sandals. Travel in jeans/leggings & trainers, T-shirt & jacket. Hairbrush, toothpaste & brush, mascara. Laptop all in a backpack.

I've travelled with this little for a 3 week holiday!

BatFaceGiirll · 23/10/2024 14:22

@countrygirl99 I am gutted about the snorkelling tbh and can't see how to make it work for me

I wear glasses with a very strong prescription - minus 9. I'm unable to wear contact lenses. I have to wear my glasses but how on earth do I get to snorkel? We are only going for a one off for ten days so no point spending £££ on a prescription mask that I'll never use again and can't get in time now anyway and a normal mask doesn't go over my glasses

I suppose the only option is to try with some contacts but historically, I'm shit with them

countrygirl99 · 23/10/2024 14:56

That's terrible! Could you cope with contacts for a couple of hours or a complete no no? I find daily disposables the easiest.

BatFaceGiirll · 23/10/2024 21:44

@countrygirl99 I'm going to call my opticians tomorrow and see if I can just order in a few pairs and give it a go!

Good luck

With the packing I'd make a list of each day that you're there and what you'll wear during the day and in the evening.

So you need something to travel in on Day 1. If you arrive in the evening you'll need something for dinner.

Day 2 might be bikini, flip flops and light dress during the day. Another outfit/dress for dinner.

Day 3 might be walking so list what you need. Back for dinner so reuse the dress you wore on Day 1.

Just work through each day and add in things like trips but generally it'll be beach stuff and a dress for the evening. I take 3x bikinis as I like to have one on, one in my bag to change if we have been in the pool just before lunch and one spare. For 10 days you need no more than 3x cover up dresses.

Then add passports/documents, underwear, toiletries, tech, things like gym kit/trainers if you'll definitely use them.

You can rewear things more often than you think - you'll only have dresses for dinner on for a few hours.

BatFaceGiirll · 24/10/2024 12:34

@RomainingToBeSeen ooh that's really helpful thank you. I will use that system

Have you priced up prescription masks? They may not be as much as you think. I've had a Costco one in the past that was really reasonable.
