It’s really hard to measure a kitchen! Any tips?

I am trying to measure my kitchen. I’ve made a start but it’s really hard to know how to set it out clearly on the paper. I’ve looked at the B&Q video which explains you should measure from each corner of the room and then measure everything fixed and work clockwise around the room.

Anyone done it recently and can offer any tips?

I just measure the walls both width and length ways, including any recesses.
So for example, place the tape measure on the wall, then measure to the opposite wall.
B&Q etc make it more complicated than it needs to be.

Draw a diagram of the room first then measure. I measure houses and gardens as part of my job.

Draw the rough shape quite large on the paper. Then add the rough positions of windows and doors and any recessed etc. THEN measure everything, measure to the window/ door apature (brickwork) rather then wood. For accuracy you can do a couple of diagonals. Decide on your unit. Usually the nearest. Cm is fine.

If it's for a kitchen design then don't worry too much usually they send someone round to check measurements anyway.

It still sounds complicated but I will give it a try like that!
