Does my baby need a passport?? (Guernsey)

We’re travelling to Guernsey from England in November with an 8 month old baby.
I know that to travel domestically you don’t need to have a passport, just photo ID, but what does an infant need?

Ive looked across the internet and all the answers are so conflicting. The ferry company says that children under 16 don’t need any form of ID, I emailed a travel company that says he’ll need a driving license or passport (???) so i’m just so lost.

has anyone travelled to Guernsey or similar with a small baby? How did you do it?

Visit Guernsey says all visitors from the UK need photo ID.

Yes, i emailed and they said the same but the ferry company says all under 16s can travel without id

If you're going by ferry then it looks like it's only age 16+ that needs photo ID

Do I need a passport?

We advise you to travel with a current valid passport for all passengers travelling if you hold them, including children and infants. However, you can also travel to Guernsey from the UK with current valid authority issued photographic identification such as a driving licence, bus pass or disabled badge. Children under the age of 16 years are not formally required to have identification if travelling with a parent or guardian.

If you plan to visit France during your stay passports will be required.

No ID needed, I travel by air and ferry to Guernsey all the time with my kids.

Can you get a passport quickly just in case?

I live on Guernsey - you do not need an ID for your child if they are under 16 and travelling with you. You and your OH will need ID.
