Living abroad for the whole summer

A friend of a friend is a teacher with a partner who works remotely and every summer, they go and "live" abroad somewhere.
I love this idea so much but sadly, I don't have a budget for it.
Does anyone else do this?
Tell me about it and let me live vicariously (or inspire me if it's cheap enough for me to save up for by next summer)

DH and I used to do this for the autumn. We both can work remotely so we’d go for sept-nov. We missed friends and family even tho we don’t see family much when we’re at home.

We did it when our DC were little. We spent two summers in an unused family holiday home in the Alps, walking in the mountains in the morning, swimming in the lake in the afternoon. DH worked online and was done by six, after which we'd go walking, eat out or sail on the lake. Weekends we'd visit Geneva, Lausanne or drive to Italy. It was wonderful! We made friends who the DC (teens) still catch up with when we go skiing or for a summer break.

My colleague and his wife did the same, took the caravan and the dog and spent the summer in France (both teachers).

This is actually my absolute dream!

Last time I went away I got housesitters through an agency and they did this exact thing. They loved it - spent every summer living somewhere new.

Live in carer for family member. We go away May & June and September & October. Just prepping for return to UK this week. 😥
