Does anyone else struggle to sleep alone?

I have always had this problem. I’m married with children so I don’t have to face it anymore.

But recently I stayed in a house with some friends (no husband and kids) and was on my own in a room and couldn’t sleep as was scared of absolutely nothing. Noises kept waking me. Had to sleep with the light on. Heart racing.

I hate being this way. But even as a child / teen, I struggled to sleep alone. (I do have an anxiety disorder).

Anyone else? How do I get over it? The idea of ever sleeping alone fills me with dread as I know I’ll be terrified and not sleep! I do NOT want to be this way!

Would you feel safer in an apt alone vs a stand alone house? I always felt safely in numbers in an apt if there was a break in, compared to a stand alone home.

I had as a child what we call fear of the dark - a very vivid imagination that horrible monster is there. I used to call my mother until I was 16 and one night she refused to come and that fear eased. Since I became a christian and started praying , all night terrors stopped, all sleep paralisis stopped, etc

I have the angels around

Praying before bed resolved my terrible night terrors.

I wouldn’t say I sleep better with my partner in bed but I definitely prefer it and for many years struggled to sleep alone.

Me! DH goes away for work now and again. He’s been away this week and I asked a relative to stay one night which helped me get some sleep. Last night I slept from 11-3am waking up in between every half hour. I’m now exhausted and it’s 4.30am and I have work soon!

Thank god he’s not away much. I’ve considered a dog too. We live in an old house that creaks all night which doesn’t help. I hoped I’d get over it as I got older but nope 🫠

I have slept alone for years. It is bliss. We are all different.
