We have a damp smell coming (I think) from the ensuite..although it's sometimes in the family bathroom.

It's horrible, a damp, sewage type smell.

Our plumber came round and said he thought it was coming from an outside sewage pipe that had been dislodged from the wall and if we closed the window, it would go away.
We closed the window but it's still there.

Anyone know of a way to mask it?

The plumber is coming back to fix the pipe but it'll be in a few weeks.

I put bleach down the sink and the overflow. The shower and the loo. Leave it there for as long as possible. We have an issue with the spare room one. Not pleasant but the bleach does the trick

What's the state of your external drains? We had a backed up smell when the trap under the manhole cover connecting us to the main public sewer was blocked. Property built 1890s.

Is it cabbagy smelling?
We had similar, we needed anti-vac traps fitting under the baths.
Our house is a new build so we put it on the snag list and mithered the builders and eventually they sorted it.
We still get it from time to time in bathrooms that aren't used as much but it's much reduced.

When we smell it now we run the taps and make sure some water does down the overflow, flush the toilets etc

DH going to look at drains.
Its been on and off but mainly on.
Horrible and really starting to get me down.
Must be the drains or what something is dead somewhere…

Drains seem to be flowing properly.

I've turned on the central heating to see if that makes a difference....🤞🏻
