I just want something fun to do on my own.

Don't go to Borough Market, it's absolutely packed all the time, expensive & nowhere to sit & enjoy any of the food you buy.

Decide what you're interested in food wise - cheese, bakery, sushi, Korean etc etc - and go online to find sone good locations to visit. (Probably east london)

Thing is I'm the kind of person that loves company. I love having dinner with friends and having a nice chat.

There are some days I walk around London "trying to entertain myself" but I end up getting bored just being on my own.

How about joining a London based meetup group? There are lots.

Go for a walk in hampstead heath, kenwood house is lovely. Hampstead village is a small walk away and is beautiful too.

It depends what you're into and what the weather is like.
I'd enjoy walking along the river and through the big parks on a dry day. Art galleries - the big ones like Tate or National but also smaller ones like Dulwich or Serpentine.
I also love shopping when it's quiet so I'd maybe go to the shops in Covent Garden for when they open before they get busy and then retreat to a nearby gallery once the shops get busy.

There's an art gallery in Hyde park?

And it's free! https://www.serpentinegalleries.org/

I find it hard to enjoy central (on my own) when it's raining.

It’s hard to enjoy anywhere when it’s chucking down, alone or not! I stay home in shit weather (I live alone). I can read, practice music, watch tv, cook…

Go. Life is short 😃

Oh I can - in fact I have next week off and could go easily, but the main reason for us visiting London so regularly no longer exists, so it might feel a bit odd to just go with no particular purpose in mind. We are fairly close to a station and the trains only take 40 minutes, so perhaps I need to think of another reason to go instead. 🙂

cardibach · 21/10/2024 13:32

The reason is you miss it and want to go, @TentEntWenTyfOur

Walk around Hampstead Heath and try to spot the flock of wild parakeets
Look at all the lovely things in the British Museum
The Southbank: soak up the Brutalism, go see if anything's playing in festival hall, arthouse film at the BFI
Go to the square mile on a Sunday when its completely empty and pretend that you're the last person alive in a Zombie movie

Cjcik · 30/11/2024 12:26

I'm doing it today. Taking myself out for a big walk around central.

Hi guys. It's SUCH a sunny day today. I'm definitely going out after lunch. Any recommendations?
