Is my house going to collapse?

Welcome to my catastrophising brain.

I have noticed today that multiple doors throughout the house have started to "rub" overnight. As in yesterday they opened and closed freely but today they all rub against the floor. I'm guessing the house has moved somehow (perhaps from all the rain?).

Isn't this really worrying or normal-ish? Is the structure at risk?

It's the damp. Our bathroom door is unvarnished wood and does this every autumn. Although it doesn't help that the back corner of the house where the bathroom is, does lean slightly🤣🤣

Ooo I see, it's a change in the door itself rather than the whole house moving and getting ready to collapse.

Light bulb moment. Indeed that does sound like a much more reasonable explanation 😬

Thank you @Fizzadora , I will sleep much better now. But also good to know I am not going crazy, DH thought there was no difference, but then he is the least observant person I have ever met!

Agree, just the autumn damp. Once you're heating the house more intently, they will shrink back.

Yes, mine do this too. Particularly the bathroom door, it can barely shut at the moment. It happens every year then goes back to normal.

Yes bathroom doors and the garage door are the worst ones!

Well, now that you have said, I realise my bathroom door does this too! I hadn’t really given it any thought until this thread so thanks for posting @Isitthefullmoon

My wooden porch door is so noisy after swelling when the humidity changes this time of year. Wakes me up when someone comes in/out!

Also if your heating is on/not on and the weather has changed, all contribute to the doors and door frames expanding and contracting at different rates.
