I live South of London. And we are having very mild weather ATM. Surely last year it wasn't this warm in mid-october. I can't remember and I haven't looked it up on Google but do any of you remember whether this time last year we had to have the heating on every day? Personally, i'm loving having the doors and windows still open.

I don't know how accurate it is but the AccuWeather app tells you the weather this time last year and what the average is. For London it's saying 18° today and this time last year was 14°

I think we've definitely had a few mild Halloweens in recent years - I remember it being cold when I was a child but it's been warm and damp at this time of year a bit. We got married at the end of October 8 years ago and it was about 23C on our wedding day!

I was on the beach (SE coast) in the October half term in 2022 and 2023.

2022 was about 18c and we were paddling.

I also recall it being 30c on 1st October in 2011 in London!

I’m in outer SW London, and yesterday was positively warm at 22 deg, but today was cooler and previously we’d had some really chilly days, 6 deg at 8 am.

It’s often changeable at this time of year, and ‘Indian summers’ have long been known. A lot of Victorians - those who had holidays - used to take them in October.

FWIW I can remember over 20 years ago, a gorgeous sunny day with 21 deg, on the very last day of October.
Next day, 1st November, a complete change to cold, wet and windy!

I remember my BIL bringing the DC trick or treating wearing shorts and us talking about how warm it was on hallowe’en. Must have been before my DC were born so 2012/13/14.

Monday in London was freezing. Overall I’m not sure it’s particularly warm?

Must have been 2014!

Two years ago October half term was unusually warm. We stayed in a family room at premier inn and it was so hot. Didn't think we would need air con in October, so I didn't even check, the hotel had none.

AutumnLeaves24 · 17/10/2024 19:26

I'm in SE and I think it's been colder than past years, but with a few lovely days thrown in.

today was a lovely autumn day, improved my mood no end!! Had the doors open all day, but the temperature dropped quite suddenly about5:30 and it's now quite chilly! Last night it was much warmer.

unmemorableusername · 18/10/2024 10:22

I'm sure it's warmer

I was about to post the same thing. It has been really mild in the south east. Octobers in the UK are not like they used to be. I know I am in the minority but I don't like it.
