If you have an Emerald ring - do you wear it everyday?

Recently got an Emerald ring that I want to wear every day, wondered whether those with Emerald rings wear theirs everyday and whether you've had wear and tear?
Either by general day to day things, or by using while washing and creaming hands.

Yes, but I damaged the setting so now I only wear it when I leave the house.

I used to but Emeralds are soft and mine chipped so I only wear it for occasions now

Hi OP! Certified gemologist here. Emeralds suffer from what we in the trade call low toughness, which means that (as a previous poster noted) they can chip and fracture very easily. If your emerald is natural, have a close look — most natural emeralds already have inclusions and fractures when they’re mined, because of this characteristic. The famous ‘emerald cut’ protects emeralds by cropping the sharp corners, which are more likely to take a knock. I would definitely recommend taking it off for housework and any activity where you’re using your hands a lot. It’s all down to luck — you could wear it forever and never whack it just in the wrong place. Or you could be get unlucky, and it chips tomorrow. It’s all about how much risk you’re willing to take with that particular stone. It’s a beautiful piece — enjoy it!

I dont have one, however that's absolutely stunning. If it will bring you pleasure, I would definitely wear it all the time. I really want one now!

It looks very much like my previous engagement ring which I loved and wore every day.

I did have to replace the side stone once as it got knocked out.

Just take it off doing things that might knock it.

I’ve worn mine for 22 years. When I worked in a jewellery shop I learned that they are delicate. Don’t use a gold cleaner liquid on the ring. Just wipe it with a soft cloth and use a damp cotton bud if any gaps need cleaning, like in the mount.

I have sort of inherited an emerald ring that belonged to a family member .
It's dated inside the shank 1922 so it's over a century old , I don;t wear it , the ring doesn;t fit me and TBH , it is Bloody Ugly

I wear mine every day and have done for years, but it does have a chip and a crack!

My engagement ring is exactly the same as your ring OP.

I've worn it for nearly forty years all the time. I do wear gloves when I'm doing dishes and bathrooms though. The other thing is it's hell to get the soap scum out of the back of, it takes a needle and wet cotton pad to get it out!
