I hear about this but can never find anything. I live near stanstead so could do it happily and I've got a friend who's up for it too, but I can't find anything.
Any ideas?

When would you like to go ?

Go to skyscanner, put in the dates you can travel and the anywhere option. It will give you all the options in price order.

This is a random day in November, from Stansted to Cologne. You won’t need luggage, so shouldn’t be too many extra charges… except seats if you want to sit next to each other.

Mainland Europe? Find a small ish city with the airport close to the city centre on the STANSTED "destinations" page and the world is your oyster.

Belfast and Dublin are two alternatives to the mainland. Titanic exhibition is well worth a visit, nice lunch and home. Loads to do in Dublin. Flights are more frequent than buses.

There are quite a few Facebook groups called 'Extreme day trips' where people tell what they have done and where they have flown from/to. Might be worth a look.

Used to do it al the time to France, drove and got the ferry and then the tunnel when it was opened.
