Boring, I know, but with chips and cracks and fading patterns, I am ready to invest.

i don’t like huge chunky ones, but at the same time I want a mug, not a tiny teacup.

hit me with your faves!

I got two very nice bone China mugs from Morrisons last week for £7. Just the right size and nice handles.

NotMeNoNo · 10/10/2024 09:45

After building up a lovely collection of Emma Bridgwater mugs, all but one have cracked or lost handles over the years, and the one left has a big crack propagating down it. Beaten up in the dishwasher by the Denby ones maybe? They are pretty but not for daily use IME.

Dunoon mugs are beloved of garden centres but they are durable despite being light.

I love these.

Morrisons fine bone china ones. They vary in design but I always pick one up if there's a new addition.
Not clunky, nice to sip from.

£4.50.

I've noticed they've got some others in similarly made but too small.

Dunoon do nice china mugs, as pp says.

I also find Morrisons china mugs quite thing and nice.

I like the designs of the Emma Bridgewater mugs but have had too many handles fall off to waste my money on those again. Le Creuset mugs are nice.

My tea drinking family all favour Anna wright mugs!

Personally I prefer a chunkier mug and these whilst pricey will last forever and can be collected over a long time.

£34 for a mug???

pashmina696 · 10/10/2024 11:24

@Gall10 2nd quality are a bit less but yes.. it's been a regular Christmas present for myself and my husband for about 15 years. They aren't cheap but they are completely hand made and hand painted and last a lifetime. People who collect them often buy one a year - I have had things from them for over 16 years and there are no chips and no glazing issues and no deterioration of colour despite daily use - the quality is unsurpassable.

Those are lovely @Molecule. I'm going to order some to give as a housewarming gift. Thank you!

Those look a bit like my Denby ones.

I prefer a porcelain mug, or bone china for a nice cup of tea.

Luddite26 · 10/10/2024 11:40

I like the big Stanley cups by Catherine Kidston.
DD bought me some Paddington ones recently unfortunately from Next now so I won't buy them myself. I like Emma Bridgewater cups but they don't hold enough for me.
My other faves are some from Asda for £1

Tbh I’m the same, so wanted to see the Glosters’ ones before buying. They are incredibly thin, light and drinking from them is like drinking from china or porcelain. And I love the colours and wish they made a jug.

Definitelynotme2022 · 10/10/2024 13:44

I have these. They are expensive, but I've had them for about 2 years now, and not a single chip, no discolouration and they look like new. They're a great size and shape too.

Actually, the link is for the large mugs and I have the smaller standard sized ones.

Another vote for Highland Stoneware - such good quality and beautiful designs ❤️

DilemmaDelilah · 10/10/2024 15:48

These white fluted mugs from IKEA are really nice! Plenty big and not too thick.

pambeesleyhalpert · 10/10/2024 15:52

Le cruset!

Ophy83 · 10/10/2024 16:51

I like buying a mug on holiday... I've bought beautiful ones from little shops in Scotland, Cornwall, France etc and they give happy memories along with the lovely warming drink

SunmerSazz · 10/10/2024 16:56

These are my favourites. Bought a number when I split from ExH. They've added some new ones so I might have to get some more 🤦‍♀️

I love Stokes Croft - great shape and size and bone china

Mugs – Stokes Croft China & PRSC Shop

Second these - I have lots and they’re great - don’t fade in dishwasher (unless with gold paint) are lovely to drink from and a decent size. I’ve had mine for years
