Gym Kit for 16 YO DD - any ideas?

DD has started going to the gym and has asked a gym kit for Christmas. Not being a gym person myself I am a bit clueless - does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.

What is your budget?

Nike Pro
Lululemon
Gymshark
Alo Yoga

are all brands teens seem to like

My dd likes Swetty Betty too but she's early 20's.

What does she mean by gym kit? Clothes, or a bag, weights, resistance bands etc?

Agree with PP I love Alo Yoga, but depends on your budget.

Thanks - I'd say £100 for the set.

Gym kit - top & bottom. Has a bag and shoes she seems happy with

M&S etc sell gym clothes for a more affordable price. Regatta often have sales on their trainers (and they're so comfy!), a water bottle, a bag if she wants

Will she be going to and from the gym from home or going in normal clothes, changing and changing back again?

My protein stuff is great and they have offers quite a lot.

Just looked at Alo Yoga and I love it but think it might be not quite for her.

We live about 10 mins from the gym so she'll wear there and back.

For £100 I’d get a few bits from Nike, Gymshark rather than Alo Yoga which is more pricey.

Has she weight to lose or is she gaining? Might be worth thinking about before buying a certain size now!

Itswaytooearlytobeawake · 09/10/2024 15:08

She's teeny - 8/10 so I would say true to size.

Thanks to all who have replied. I've seen gym shark is that popular with teens?
She definitely likes Nike.

Alo Yoga is pricy and having seen it in Selfridges I don't think it's worth it. Then again I don't think Off White sportswear is worth it either but dd loves it (only ever in the clearance section though!!!!)

Nike Pro is great & I see lots of kids wearing it.

Gymshark is the in thing with my teen DD, tbf they are good quality and wash well

I honestly don't rate gymshark stuff. I find the leggings really thin and even had one pair rip at the seams the first time I wore them.

Thanks all

Nike Pro
Sweaty Betty
Lululemon

are all popular with older teen DDs

My first tip would be not to buy it just yet as by Christmas she might not still be going to the gym! I am very good at buying gym kit thinking it will
motivate me to go to the gym more. It doesn’t!
I’d also pause as she might want to spend a bit of time figuring out what she enjoys doing in the gym, what she feels comfortable wearing in the gym and what others are wearing. Is she going to be a sports bra and short shorts girls or a loose t-shirt and leggings girl? Does she mainly run or is she doing classes which involve dance or sideways movements or is she doing weights? That could all
impact on what trainers would be best - and they could easily eat up all of your £100 budget.
Then I think it’s getting a bit more info from her. Would she rather have one pair of leggings from LuLuLemon or an outfit from Gymshark or Nike or enough kit for a couple of days in which case it might be a mix of M&S, Sainsbury’s, Gymshark & Nike.
