Husband’s jeans, hole in crotch

Help me out here, my husband has worn through many many pairs of jeans due to a hole in the crotch which he attributes to having testicles, but I’ve just realised I haven’t had to replace any of his under pants for the same reason. Is he secretly throwing out underwear? Has anyone else seen this? As I do not have testicles I’ve never had to ditch a pair of jeans for a hole specifically there! 😂 asking for entertainment as much as enlightenment. Anyone else seen something equally weird?

I get holes in the crotch of my jeans / leggings. It’s where my thighs rub together I always thought!! Deff don’t have testicles 😂

Does he cycle? I've worn through the crotches of several much-loved pairs of jeans (RIP) through cycling in them.

Why are you the one replacing his underwear? You’re not his mother.

I was also going to ask if he cycles.

You can get commuter trousers which have a reinforced crotch which might solve the issue.

Arghhh, new mumsnet format has me confused! Yes he cycles - thank you for this info

No but it’s a useful stocking filler at Christmas, it just struck me why were his jeans being affected and not his pants. More of an existential question than a feminist one

My DP has this bro as he walks for miles and miles and they rub away

Every pair of jeans I own dies because of a hole in the crotch, it's a common male thing. Cycling exacerbates it, but they'll still die the same way without cycling, just more slowly.

And no, underwear doesn't seem to go in the same way, I think because it's a bit looser.

My theory a few of us once came up with in the pub is that it's not directly because of testicles rubbing, but because of the various adjustments we continually have to make to them over the course of the day because one has fallen out the leg of our boxers or is stuck to our leg etc. That much poking and prodding is bound to lead to wear and tear.

I do not have testicles, but still wear down my jeans at the crotch. I think it is the shape of my thighs and that it stretches or rubs together at that part.
It is particularly denim and no other material, so I think that is why the underwear does not suffer the same fate.
