Have you ever accidentally wandered into the men’s?

I did today (sleep deprived) and the wall of overpoweringly concentrated old wee stench hit me in the face and jolted me out of my stupor, which is when I noticed things didn’t look quite right, namely the urinals. Ahh insomnia, you old bastard. The men’s was deserted btw, thank god.

Oh yes! Also sleep deprived (not due to children).

CoffeeMad18 · 10/10/2024 11:39

Yes a long time ago at work - thought they had redecorated till I saw the urinals!!!
Same - sleep deprived

MarkWithaC · 10/10/2024 11:40

Yes, at an airport. Same thing really – jetlagged/disorientated.

TigerRag · 10/10/2024 11:41

Almost! And then a man walked out

REP22 · 10/10/2024 11:42

I did once, in Sainsburys. Mortified. The smell was truly grim.

PatriciaHolm · 10/10/2024 11:42

Oh yes. They were labelled "Laddies" and "Ladies" and I skim read...

FriendOrNo · 10/10/2024 11:44

Yes wasn't really concentrating, probably looking something up on my phone or reading something else and no doors needed opening to get my attention, so instead of turning left, I turned right and only due to a man walking out I realised!

Panama2 · 10/10/2024 11:47

Yes on holiday. I may have had something to drink I didn't care but the man in there was somewhat surprised

Sethera · 10/10/2024 11:50

How utterly stupid - asking for confusion with that labelling.

Yes, I have once or twice; usually on exiting the ladies where the exit route isn't clear, e.g. motorway services.

PickAChew · 10/10/2024 11:50

Another one sleep deprived in Sainsbury's. The men's and ladies are the opposite way around in my two nearest stores and I was on autopilot that day.

Lovelysummerdays · 10/10/2024 11:50

Once they had those circles one with an arrow one with a cross and I guessed wrong. One place near me as a heifers and bulls, tourists often linger to see who comes out so can nip into right one

socks1107 · 10/10/2024 11:50

Yes! First day in my new job meeting the team, during the meeting I realised my top was on back to front it wasn't a major deal and I should've left it! I ran into what I thought was the ladies swapped my top round and when I came out all my new colleagues were staring at me. Total fail and the job carried on that way!!

crackofdoom · 10/10/2024 11:52

I've done worse than wander...Manning a stall at an NCT second hand sale at a school (on a Saturday), 1 year old DS did an absolute poonami in his playpen...I grabbed him, raced into the toilets, chucked his changing mat down on the floor and was wrestling his shitty clothes off before I noticed the urinals and the shocked looking dads wandering in 😳

SidekickSylvia · 10/10/2024 11:52

Yes, luckily they were empty but I noticed due to the smell. I absolutely hate that quite a few places are starting to have mixed sex toilets.

Roundaboot · 10/10/2024 12:00

I did this on holiday in a beachside cafe once. I went straight to a cubicle and got really annoyed as I needed to change a tampon and there was no sanitary bin. When I went out of the cubicle there was a guy washing his hands who gave me a really odd look and I was a bit affronted about him being there...it was only when I got outside and saw the other door for the ladies that I realised I was the one in the wrong! Still do a little internal cringe about it and this was a good few years ago!

Icannotremembermyusername · 10/10/2024 12:03

Yes I have! Jet lagged and wandered in to the men’s, and I can remember thinking “why is that woman weeing standing up?” How weird! Is this a type of ladies standing contraption!! They were very stylish contemporary loos in Asia, they didn’t smell , they were clean toilets. Then a guy walked in behind me and I thought oops!! 😬

LeopardPrintIsANeutraI · 10/10/2024 12:05

Yes! But only because over lockdown our local Wetherspoons decided to swap the men's and women's toilets as part of a refurb. They did swap the door signs too, obviously, but that didn't stop bloody loads of locals getting it wrong for years afterwards!

Mebebecat · 10/10/2024 12:05

Yup. At the O2. It was empty initially then a man walked in behind me, panicked and couldn't stop apologising for accidentally walking into the ladies. Eventually we realised it was me in the wrong place and I fled!

TenWeeCaramelJoeys · 10/10/2024 12:10

Even if someone swapped the signs on the doors I STILL wouldn't make that mistake. I can smell that special stench at 60 paces no matter how sleep deprived I am🤣🤣

BowTiesPinkTail · 10/10/2024 12:12

On purpose, not accidental. There was a massive queue for ladies and nothing for men's so I queue jumped and used the men's cubicles 🤷🏼‍♀️. To be fair they were individual cubicles each with their own toilet amd urinal and sink, and men's cubicles were opposite the women's cubicles in the same area.

BobbyBiscuits · 10/10/2024 12:14

Yes. I've also done so on purpose in desperate times of need. I'm always very apologetic if I do. But often do let out some sort of exclamation of horror when the inevitable odour hits.

user98786 · 10/10/2024 12:17

Do men not have noses??

hildabaker · 10/10/2024 12:21

I also hate using a unisex loo directly after a man has used it. The smell...

OtherS · 10/10/2024 12:27

Into the men's changing room at the swimming pool, I'm pretty short-sighted and was relying on memory to tell me which changing room was mine. That was obviously a mistake! Luckily, a (non naked) man came down the hall towards the pool before I turned the corner so I didn't see anything - though would've been very blurry anyway!

onwardsup4 · 10/10/2024 12:28

Yes. Not got too far in side as yea the stench gives it away!
