Worried about normal periods on implant

I had the implant fitted in February and ever since every 28 days I get a period. Mid cycle I get stomach pains/ achy boobs as if I’m ovulating. But I can’t really be can I? Did anyone else have the same? Had the implant twice before and periods stopped completely so this feels weird.

Progestin isn't the only hormone involved in our menstrual cycles so it's completely normal to still experience ovulation/period symptoms on the implant. It's also normal to carry on having periods and equally normal to have none, or the occasional one. Even if you've previously had different experiences.

If you're really worried it isn't working, talk to the clinic where you had it implanted?

I mentioned it in a GP appointment this week and she looked shocked and said she hadn’t heard of anyone continuing to have completely unchanged cycles. She did say it must be working for me as I’m obviously not/ haven’t been pregnant. Her confusion just threw me a little.

You're still worried so you need some reassurance. My understanding is that when you're on the implant, those ovulation sticks you can buy should be negative at the appropriate time of your cycle. Maybe look into that and it could reassure you the implant is working properly?

My sister had completely normal cycles on the implant, 28 days etc

GP apparently said that just happens to some (I’m sure my GP said this too in a different part of the country to my sister, is your Gp inexperienced? I find sexual health nurses know about this stuff WAAY better than GPs tbh)

Some get inconsistent bleeding, some have no bleeding, some have regular menstrual cycles, doesn’t mean it’s not working
