Choosing a sofa for a sunny room. Worry about sun damage

We have a very sunny room. Think 3 large windows with cream wooden venetian blinds. We Need to change the cream leather suite in there after 18 yrs. I'm worried any fabric will just fade in the room but would love a fabric suite. Is it nuts to buy one for there. Will it be wrecked in 3 years ??

Any experience?

Go for what you want and see. Enjoy it every day you have it.

I wouldn't aim to make a sofa last for 18 years. You probably spend hours of your life sat on it and you deserve to be really comfortable (and sofas tend not to be after 18 years!).

Well assuming you are not going for beige/cream/pale grey as obviously they won't noticeably fade. What colours did you have in mind? Dye fixing tech is better than it used to be, but some colours will fade regardless.
You could get a sofa where recovering is available? Some companies probably offer this themselves, but there are third parties who do covers. Eg covers for IKEA sofas are readily available from third parties in all sorts of amazing fabrics. Then when it fades you can buy a new cover.

Nothing useful to add, and I know I'm totally missing the point of the thread, but just wanted to say how envious I am that you have so much sun in your life!

What about getting a sofa that has changeable covers, something like the Ikea ones. Then you could refresh the look every now and then. Or just go with the fact that your furniture will be sun kissed overtime.
