FTM baby with reflux and feeding advice

I’m a first time mum so please no judgment.

My baby was struggling with silent reflux symptoms and after speaking to the dr at our 6 week check she prescribed infant gaviscon and not a lot else (getting an appointment with our drs is near on impossible).

I used the gaviscon for a couple of days, and the screaming in pain in the evenings did stop - but I was worried and could see signs of constipation starting so stopped using it.

I saw online about using anti reflux formula or adding carobel to your own formula, and as we use the Aldi formula at £7 a tin - decided to order some carobel from an online pharmacy to add to this as seemed the cheaper option.

It wasn’t until after I started using it for the last 4 days that I really researched what it is and how after using it your baby will then become used to the thickened formula and would struggle to keep water down or even purée food when the time comes.
I’m now thinking maybe I should just stop using it before baby becomes completely dependent on it and deal with the reflux symptoms. (She would cry in pain for around an hour each evening and struggle with her evening bottle).

Please give me some advice on what I should do, I hate having to make these decisions by myself and the drs are pretty useless to be honest.

My partner also isn’t much help in making these decisions, and as he works away a lot doesn’t get to see how much pain baby was in with the reflux in the evenings.

Also a FTM, though my daughter is 20m now.

We also had silent reflux, so bad she'd hold her breath.
We had carobel from around 3m and never had an issue. With food or other liquids, or constipation.
We tried to wean off of it a couple of times, just slowly added less and less to let her adjust to the new texture. Talking days not weeks though.

We were fully off by 12m, though she still has infant formula as her milk now hospital advice as both normals cows milk and follow on milk caused reflux again, she's always been completely fine with all foods. We even weaned early for reflux reasons and never had an issue.

Saved us so much worry and obviously made her life better!

Anecdotally (because I wasn't there) my step son also had carobel for the first year of life for more much traditional reflux, and was also fine with weaning and other fluids.
