Rhinoplasty painful recover ?

Hi everybody I’m so sorry I’m aware this isn’t child/mum related but just wanted some advice if anybody would kindly be able to help.
Are nose jobs as painful recovery as everybody is telling me? I’m awful with pain I’ve just had vein ablation along with sclerotherapy on the same leg at the same time and that was bad enough for me 🫣 I’m booked in for a consultation for rhinoplasty and now I’m really worried that I won’t be able to cope with the recovery pain. My family are against me getting it done so I’m also worried that it’s going to be a matter of I told you so. I have an autistic toddler and although my family do help me with him I’m worried the pains going to have me bed ridden and unable to cope?
My nose isn’t bad to the point I don’t think I’ll need excessive amounts done to it I’m not sure if that helps recovery time or not.
Starting to worry 🫣 can anybody help please?

I had this procedure many years ago OP and it really wasn't painful. Well, obviously it was very sore and tender at first, but very easily managed and I recovered quickly.

Have never regretted it for a single second.

Thankyou so much for your reply, would you say the recovery afterwards for the first few days was unbearable? People are telling me stories how they was crying in pain and being sick for days on end in agony? And now I’m like omg what have I done 😭🫣

I had a nose job at 18 ( I know, I know). I mean it was pretty uncomfortable recovery wise. Its the swelling and build up of blood inside that just makes you feel shitty. What I wasn't prepared for was the pain involved at review stage where they removed padding stuff up the nose and pulled out blood clots that accumulate during recovery. I remember that now after 30 years.

I've experienced worse pain in my life though tbh.

You arent asking this question I know - but as a fully grown established adult, will this nose job change your life in the way you think it will? I think it's cosmetic from your post? Is this really necessary or is there more going on with you that other things might help with - that doesn't involve cosmetic surgery. Any plastic surgeon will tell you how great you'll look and how it will charge your life. That's how they make their money.

It's uncomfortable rather than painful. You have to mouth breath so its like having a really bad head cold for a week.

To add, they use dissolvable packing and stitches now so no yanking out the plugs and stitches like the old days.

you have to irrigate with saline every day which is unpleasant but no, its not painful.

i had a septo-rhinoplasty which is more complicated. Definitely worth it to breath again.

God God no! I can't recall anything like that at all. To be fair it was a long time ago, but I'm sure I'd remember if it was that bad. As it stands, I really can't remember much about it at all. I know I was pretty bruised around my eyes and I think I felt quite vulnerable when the dressings came off, in a "mind my nose!" kind of way.

I've certainly experienced much more painful things since (most of them pregnancy/childbirth/breastfeeding related!)

Zero pain, seriously. But annoying stuffy head cold feeling for about 5-7 days. One of my nostrils cleared on day 5 and it was like heaven from that moment on to be honest. So really only 5 days of annoying stuffiness.
I cant stand having a cold so thought I’d really struggle with that side of it but weirdly I coped fine.

You have to breath out your mouth and it’s uncomfortable having the bandage on and I woke up to my nose bleeding pretty badly but it heals really quick I think

Is it really painful the recovery? Thanks
