I’ve been married to DH since the early 2000s, and we’ve had a pretty solid, normal relationship. But recently, he’s been acting... different. He’s always been into fitness, but in the past few months, he’s completely upped the intensity. He’s in the gym constantly, working on his physique like he’s preparing for some kind of showdown. I get that he wants to stay in shape, but it’s more than that – he’s started calling himself “The Final Boss” as if he’s some sort of last challenge to be reckoned with. I don’t know whether to laugh or be concerned!
Even his personality has shifted. He now talks like he’s giving these grand, motivational speeches – everything he says is a bit... larger than life. Like the other day, after fixing the leaky tap, he proudly declared that "The Final Boss always delivers." And whenever he walks into a room, he has this air about him, like he’s waiting for applause. When the kids asked him for help with their homework, he just raised an eyebrow and said, “Know your role.”
He’s also been working this weird eyebrow thing, lifting it dramatically anytime there’s a discussion or disagreement, as if it’s supposed to end the conversation. I’ve tried to ask him what’s going on, but he just smiles and says, “Don’t worry, babe – The Final Boss has got this.”
I don’t know if this is some kind of midlife thing or if he’s just trying to mix things up, but it’s definitely odd! Has anyone else had their DH go through a phase like this? I’m not sure whether to be amused or concerned, but it’s certainly keeping things interesting around here!
