Communication device for 7 year old that can’t be tracked

My 7 year old goes to her father’s every second weekend, and every Tuesday overnight.

She has been asking for a while if she can have a way to call me when she is at Daddy’s because she misses me and wants to say hello.

For safety reasons her father does not know where we live, and I am concerned that if she were to have a smartphone he could track it. She isn’t bothered about having games etc on it-she literally just wants to be able to call me if she misses me.

Does anyone know of anything that would fit the bill?

Thank you x

I'm not expert but my DC have a cheap non smart phone. It has no internet, no GPS, no apps and can only call or text. Doesn't even have many (or maybe any) emojis.

I don't think that could be tracked.

Given your situation I would advise getting professional technical advice.

People may inadvertently give advice that has a way of tracking. Every smart device typically has a SIM/IP address which links to a physical reference.

If for example you have her a dumb phone and only rang her. Your number would be accessible. The ex could also track the dumb phone purchase place by the id of the phone.
