why is getting a new mattress so painful

I got a 1000 pocket spring mattress cotton filling brand new and expensive enough, most unfortunetly it is causing terrible pressure in my hips to the point they are a bit swollen. I can't sleep properly through the night, sometimes trying the floor and the sofa. The mattress seems to dip slightly only by mm but I notice it, so I feel I am not lying flat. I didn't think of the return policy when I bought it and there is not one. (I am quite a light person/average height)

I had been used to open coil or microcoil but I am unable to test any silent night microcoil ones near me and I cant guarantee I could get something similar again. The silent night one I had was long past its date and I had to put duvets on it as a topper to make it right but I could sleep fine on it, I wish I never got rid of it:-(

I have went round a few mattress shops but my hips are so sore it is hard to even know and I am scared that I can't trust a pocket sprung mattress again as they may be the same again. I know in hindsight I did not spend long enough looking and testing mattress before I got it.

I now think I have insomnia

Orginally I have been very put off buying any foam ones because of the heat and the chemical concerns.(do a search on google and you will see these concerns) Although the mattress I got had natural fillings the cover was sprayed in fire retardands as is the law so still expossed to chemicals.

I just need some sleep though

why are mattress so hard to buy..

Has anyone got a recent silentnight microcoil mattress or some kind of opencoil mattress you like, please please let me know, I think these mattress suit me better. Has anyone tried the pillow top silent night?

I think I like they feeling of lying on a mattress but not sinking into it, I think I like a springy mattress but its so hard to know now when you are in pain and no sleep is affecting me now.
