What was the last book you read?
For work or pleasure?
Would you recommend it?
Do you buy (where from?) or borrow?
Where is your favourite reading spot?

I've just finished Nina Stibbe's diary- Went to London, took my dog. It's very sweet and funny- about her year escaping to London after her marriage broke down at sixty.
I'm now reading Why Food Matters- a sort of social and historical exploration of how and why we eat how we do.

I've ordered my monthly haul from our local bookshop (I dropped my Amazon habit and now love my bookshop trips.) - Florence Given's Women Living Deliciously and the new Elizabeth Strout and The Best Exotic Margold Hotel. Can't wait to get going, preferably on the sofa with a fire going 🙂

Just finished Stephen King's The Dead Zone. I've been on a bit of a Stephen King jag lately and The Dead Zone didn't disappoint. He's such a great writer, bringing characters to vivid life so easily and creating tremendous suspense.

Do you know there's a whole Books section on MN?
Anyway, I'm currently reading The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce and loving it. Other excellent books I read recently:
The Echo Chamber by John Boyne
Dead Writers in Rehab by Paul B Davies
Frankisstein by Jeanette Winterson

Femina by Janina Ramirez. Really enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend.
Before that, The Five, by Hallie Rubenhold. Found it fascinating. Lots of detail, not just about the victims but also about the lives of the low classes in Victorian times.
bloody glad I was born in the 20th century!

I've just finished Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus, which I borrowed from my daughter. She buys most of her books at Waterstones, and I assume did that with this one.

She also lent me Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers a month or so ago.

I very much enjoyed both.

I've just finished Bruised Sole (The Unfiltered Story of the Hoof GP).

I've loved watching his channel for a while now and preordered his book so I could get a signed copy despite the fact I very rarely read non-fiction. I didn't realise quite how much he had been through in his life and it was lovely to see how his life has turned around for him.

I got a Waterstones voucher for Christmas and bought both Butter and Yellowface with that so my next read will be one of those.
