I feel so guilty about being off sick and can’t get it off my mind

I have been absent from work for the past week now. I am 34 weeks pregnant and only a few weeks away from maternity leave.

I love my job and feel guilty that I have been off, and concerned of what they may think about my work ethic. I know it isn’t uncommon to be off work in pregnancy and many other ladies in my due date group are also signed off or have been, for much longer than me.

This is the 3rd week this year that I have been sick. I had another week in the first trimester and a week in the new year before this pregnancy due to an early loss.

I have checked in with my employer every day this week at their request, despite telling them I intended to self certify for a week and be back on Monday. Sometimes they have messaged twice in a day and I just feel like it’s been on my mind 24/7 and instead of alleviating pressures has given me additional worries. It feels weird to be so frequently in contact as when I was actually at work they were not asking me how I was doing and I could go a couple of weeks in some cases without speaking to my boss at all.

No point to this thread other than hoping for some reassurance that they won’t remember when I return to work or that they won’t think badly of me in the mean time. :(
