Unusual but delicious sandwich fillings

I had a cheese sandwich today and had run out of pickle. So I scanned the pantry and decided to try a bit of mint sauce. Delicious!

What other fillings am I missing out on?

Goat cheese and strawberry jam. Rocket optional.

Chicken, stuffing, raspberry jam and mozzarella.

Niche, but when I lived in France it was duck pate, grated carrot and fig jam. I’ve never dared recreate it, I think I’d just be disappointed.

Marmite, cheese and ham for a more normal offering.

Frazzles and Dairylea spread my weirdest pregnancy craving but it turned out to be delicious!

My dad used to make Bovril and lettuce sandwiches which were really tasty.

Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber. Onion and mayonnaise.

Salt and Vinegar crisps

Mashed banana with a teeny sprinkle of sugar.

I love hummus with sundried tomatoes.

Cheese and apple grated and mixed together js amazing

Peanut butter, sliced apple and rocket/watercress. On a nice whole meal crusty bread.

Cheese and pineapple.

A white roll with a nice strong cheddar and tinned pineapple is delicious 😋

Dairylea and roast chicken crisps.
Dairylea has gone off these days though. It's too runny.

Yes hummus with sun dried tomatoes, yum. Particularly good on a bagel.

Also a sharp cheddar and lime pickle on brioche.

Anyone else hate the texture of salad in sandwiches? Can't get away with anything wetter or crunchier than grated carrot.

My favourite sandwich:

A ton of caramelised onion hummus spread thickly on both sides of thick granary bread, grated carrot mixed with some watercress and a tiny bit of lemon juice, then good quality halved cherry tomatoes and a sprinkle of salt.

Ha! I was going to say peanut butter and cucumber on brown bread! Haven't had it for years but scoffed it regularly in the '70s!

Cheese and crisps. Any will do but I especially like walkers smoky bacon or cool Doritos and a big wedge of cheese.

Fishfinger sandwich with sliced pickled gherkins on

Green tapenade, salami, green salad leaves.

I don’t like wet fillings either. My faves are:-

salami, cheese, gherkins and mayo
houmous, cheese and sausage and/or tomato
tuna, mayo, black olives

Cheddar, cream cheese and celery - M&S do it!

Wotsits sandwich is lovely as are skips in a sandwich 😀

Chippy style steak and onion pie... mashed up in a sandwich. Lush.

@Pudmyboy Ive never known anyone else eat this! Glad it’s not just me! Forgot to say..it must be crunchy peanut butter though
