Unusual but delicious sandwich fillings

I had a cheese sandwich today and had run out of pickle. So I scanned the pantry and decided to try a bit of mint sauce. Delicious!

What other fillings am I missing out on?

Cheese and marmite, though that's not super rare.

Bolognese sauce. Need to time it right, and it's messy, but spoon some on buttered bread and fold it over whilst dinner is cooking. Yum 😋

Chicken fajita mix in a sandwich with guac.

Sweetcorn, spring onions & mayo

JC03745 · 03/10/2024 20:36

Hummus, grated carrot and rocket
Cheese and marmite
Blue cheese, pear and celery

Ok so this is totally normal in the States but each time I make it for someone here they recoil like I've spread dog food inside bread:

Peanut butter, and mini white marshmallows dotted thickly over. Can tear up jumbo marshmallows if needed.

I know Fluff can now be bought here but I'd love to know what the Brits are doing with it, if a PB + Marshmallow sandwich is madness.

I put leftover saag paneer on thick sourdough the day after an Indian takeaway.

Ineedanewsofa · 03/10/2024 20:38

Cheese and mango chutney
Ready salted crisps and mayo
cold roast potatoes and some sort of hot sauce

CocoapuffPuff · 03/10/2024 20:38

Peanut butter with dates or banana. Raisins work too.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 03/10/2024 20:40

Tuna and coleslaw

TripleCarber · 03/10/2024 20:43

Tomatoes, mayo and tiny bit of hot sauce.

chicken super noodles, grated cheddar

These are great. I'm not a fan of very wet fillings, so I'd have to modify some of them.

I love the idea of the blue cheese, pear, and celery combo.

Thick-cut (preferably freshly carved) ham, with crisp, firm green/white seedless grapes (halved).

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/10/2024 20:47

Bacon with Brie

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/10/2024 20:48

there used to be a 'posh' sarnie shop that did avocado and cashew nut sandwiches on seeded bread. So delicious but I've never managed to exactly replicate them.

I like an onion bhaji in a sandwich, with salad leaves and mango chutney. The bread has got to have a bit of heft to it though, none of yer nasty plastic white sliced.

GildedRage · 03/10/2024 20:48

grilled:
sharp cheddar, sauerkraut, and red pepper jelly

KrazyboutKillian · 03/10/2024 20:48

Shamelessly placemarking

TylerEndicott · 03/10/2024 20:49

Another vote for cheese and apple, usually Granny Smiths and cheddar

Sidebeforeself · 03/10/2024 20:49

@CocoapuffPuff Have you tried peanut butter and cucumber? In brown bread ,its heavenly

Dr13Hadley · 03/10/2024 20:49

Corned beef, red onion and tomato ketchup

Tuna, salad cream, chopped celery and grated red leister

Second pp saying cheese and mango chutney (Brie is best for this imo)

Smoked salmon and horseradish sauce (can be mixed with cream cheese like Philli)
