Halloween birthday party - thoughts please

We are throwing our soon to be 10 year old son a Halloween theme birthday party at home.
There will probably be around 6-8 kids. My question is whether to do it on actual Halloween and include trick or treating as one of the activities?

I appreciate not all parents like their children going trick or treating which is why I’m unsure.

I also appreciate some families like to do things together on Halloween.

The other option is I could do it on another day - the weekend before Halloween and just do games and activities at home.

Thoughts please?

Also some activities/ games suggestions would be lovely. Thanks!

Love the idea. Probably the weekend before Halloween would work best as families may be planning to go trick or treating together. Would it be in the half term holidays - if so worth checking if people are around.

I’d do Halloween games - maybe apple bobbing or (modern equivalent) hands free eating donuts on strings.

When I was little we had Halloween parties where there was a pile of flour and a jelly baby on top and we’d take turns trying to get it with our teeth - but I don’t think I’d have the nerve to try that with a bunch of 7 year olds!

halloween musical statues to Halloween music - freeze like a spider, witch, zombie, monster?

And lots of Halloween party food!
