What shoes are your 11 year old DDs wearing?

I’m taking DD(almost 11) shoe shopping this weekend. I missed the boat on the need for black Nike airs for school this year 🙄. She is desperately trying to fit in, in a fast-changing social situation - her friends seem suddenly to care about the “right” thing to wear, and whilst I may be internally rolling my eyes, I don’t want to accidentally make it harder for her than it already is.

I’d be really grateful for a steer on what your DDs are wearing. Are white Nike airs with a coloured tick the right thing? And if so, are they all wearing the high top versions or the normal trainer versions?

I guess budget will be a big guiding factor.

Are you sure it’s not Air Forces rather than Nike Air ? I see Air Forces A LOT where as I’ve bot heard of a show called Nike air unless they are some sort of Jordans which is another shoe that I see a lot.

It’s her birthday soon so I’m happy to spend a little bit more than usual.

I think DD feels a bit self conscious and isn’t sure quite what she wants. She is aware, for example, that lots of her friends have ended up with these same black shoes at school, but we didn’t get the memo and I think she feels a bit as though we should have somehow known. I thought it might be useful to canvas opinions, to avoid the same thing happening again!

For my just turned 13yo it's air max, Nike panda dunks or fake uggs.

Air force ones or chunky converse hightops.

Oh sorry - yes! I can see on the website that they are Nike Air Forces. God, this is how clueless I am about this stuff… 🤦‍♀️

Nike Air forces are definitely the in shoe where we live.

We have just been to look at secondary schools and almost all the kids were wearing them.

Dd is 10 nearly 11 so in her last year of primary and quite a few of the year 6 wear them as well.

Let her choose, make the gift the choosing.

i think the cool thing is a hyper local idea, so what people who live even ten miles away will have little bearing on what is cool right now for you daughter and her class mates.

White Air force One and also white Converse All Star high tops but with thick soles.

My dd is the same age as yours. She has a couple of pairs of Nikes, one hi-top and one not. At school, they aren't allowed trainers so these are only for casual.
I think as long as she is happy with what she's chosen then it will be ok, she has seen what everyone else has on their feet so be guided by your dd

Plain black Nike for school (normal trainer style ones not high tops no idea if nike air!)

She has Nike high tops and some converse for non school wear

My son is 12 and I was asking him what shoes the girls wear as my daughter is 9 and getting interested in what’s in fashion. I try to buy second hand though while she’s still only 9. He said the girls wear black AF1s in school or black converse hi tops. Otherwise out and about white AF1s and the chunky black and white converse hi tops and Nike panda dunks are very in around here
