How come there's always room for dessert?

No matter how full I am, I can always seem to find room for dessert.

I could be stuffed to bursting, not another ounce of main course could pass my lips, but somehow my stomach miraculously can make room for cheesecake.

What is this magic-mind science and how do I stop it?!

It’s the magic of sugar! 😉

If I’m full, I’m full. This is why I never have puddings and my friends think I’m odd.

sensory-specific satiety

Some people - my husband and daughter claim - have a separate stomach especially for desserts. So you can be full of, say, carrots but still fit dessert in. Maybe you're one of those people?

Yes, I have a dinner tummy and a pudding tummy too!

Toddlerteaplease · 02/10/2024 19:01

Second pudding stomach!

stanleypops66 · 02/10/2024 19:11

I can never eat a desert after a meal. Have to wait at least 2 hours.

FloordrobeIsGoingToGetME · 02/10/2024 19:21

I definitely feel I fit the two stomachs theory!

Those of you who don't eat when you feel full - I hope you know how blessed you are with this birth skill 😜😜😜

Ooh no, I can’t do that anymore. But my sister is a pro at it, especially if it’s someone else’s pudding!

GoldenPineapple15 · 02/10/2024 19:33

My grandad always told me that we have a dinner tummy and a pudding tummy . I totally believe him !

Cookerhood · 02/10/2024 19:43

I can't eat pudding these days. And that's not a stealth boast (am a fat lass), I just can't do it, I would feel sick.
Edited for typo

Itabsolutelyispossible · 02/10/2024 19:47

The sweetie tummy of course! Our daughter believed this for ages after an auntie used to say it to her.

But yes, isn't there something about your body being able to eat more if it's different things? Something about getting a range of nutrients that way.

Chocolateisameal · 02/10/2024 19:48

The special pudding tummy is real.
