Car accident. How long for a courtesy car?

Someone smashed into my car today and it's no longer road safe. I need a car for my work. Roughly how long does it take for insurance companies to sort out a courtesy car?

I imagine it depends on the company and policy. Ours was a few days cos of Xmas bank holidays. I think if it hasn't been that time of year it would have been next day. They gave us the contact details and ref no same day I think.

I had one within 24 hours.

Within 24 hours we had courtesy car

Mine took 4 days but they covered taxi expenses in the meantime. Obviously check with your provider, but they charged the guilty party's insurance company.
