Anybody else up due to sleepless children?!

What a shit show of a night so far!

Eldest (aged 3) woke up about 1.5 hours ago, all that drama caused youngest to wake. They are now both in my bed trying (and massively failing) to get back to sleep.

Typically this happens on the night where I was in SO much need of a good sleep!

I’m now wide awake and probably will be for quite some time… anybody else having a bad night?

Yes! You're not alone, I'm having a terrible time here - I haven't slept yet and would just like to get to sleep but my child won't stop rolling, babbling and pulling herself up on my shoulder.

Howdiditgetsobad · 02/10/2024 02:11

Yep. Eldest is 6.5 and called out to me 30 mins ago. Youngest then woke up and I had to take him to the toilet then into our bed. Eldest then shouted for me again so I’m now in her bed and wide awake. 6.5 years of being woken up in the frigging night. So over it.

Yes, eldest woke just after youngest was up for a feed and disturbed youngest going back to sleep. LO has now been awake since 1 and we are trying to sleep train. It's a nightmare.

As soon as he finally gets to sleep I expect eldest will stick his head around the door again 🫣

I'm amazed no one else in the house has woken/reawoken ...

I’m at the other end of it. My oldest just came back from the pub. He’s being quiet and considerate really, but I always wake when he comes home - mother’s intuition.

AutumnTimeForCosy24 · 02/10/2024 02:25

I've not been to sleep yet, no kids to blame or cuddle though.

just a mind that won't shut the fuck up🤯🤯

and restless legs

PiggieWig · 02/10/2024 02:41

I’ve got those too @AutumnTimeForCosy24 . Peri menopause is so much fun…

Tisfortired · 02/10/2024 02:42

Yes, 21 month old just woke up crying which he never normally does. I’m back in bed but can’t get back to sleep now!

Pablosdog · 02/10/2024 02:43

Yes, my 18yro has just got in from the 24hr gym and is now chatting on his phone. He’s actually being very quiet but for some reason I’m becoming a very light sleeper recently

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 02/10/2024 02:46

Yes my daughter has hand foot and mouth and is in pain 10 wake ups so far poor poppet - she’s now sleeping but I’m worried about her and don’t see the point trying to sleep when she will wake again shortly

Woahbodyforrrrm · 02/10/2024 02:52

I'm awake but not due to children, although 3 of my 4 kids were awful sleepers so you have my sympathies Flowers

I fell asleep at 1:40am and woke up at 2:05 due to something falling downstairs somewhere. It gave me a fright and now here I am, unable to go back to sleep. I'll probably be awake now until 5:30ish just in time for my alarm to go off at 6am.

I've always struggled to go off to sleep so this isn't unusual. I've just searched Mumsnet threads for recommendations for melatonin and have placed an order with Biovea. I really hope it makes a difference to my sleep pattern.

My son is prescribed melatonin for his ADHD which I've been very tempted to try but as he is 17 and CAHMS have told me once he's 18 they will no longer prescribe it (how ridiculous is that), I wouldn't want to take his as we have to make them last as long as possible. Hopefully the Biovea ones will work as an alternative for when he can no longer get them on prescription!

I hope all the little ones settle soon (and the restless legs improve) so you can all get some rest!

My lil one has this at the moment. It's awful isn't it. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be bothering him too much.

My 31 month old has never slept through the night so here I am…again. At least these days we’re down to one wake a night but I find it so hard to get back to sleep again.

AEP123 · 02/10/2024 04:22

Yep… 4 year old kept waking up crying with an itchy bum.

Confirmed with a torch it’s out worst nightmare 😭

Fudgetheparrot · 02/10/2024 04:55

14 month old DS is being a nightmare tonight and I’ve got no idea why. Had a bottle at 2 ans I got a couple of hours sleep in but have been up again since 4. Complicated work training with lots of maths today, can’t wait!

polkadotpixie · 02/10/2024 07:44

I was up for ages with DS6, he's got a sky high temperature for the last couple of days but is otherwise symptom free so not sure what he has but he's very whingy and sad
