Anyone else crave meat when they have been ill?

So I’m recovering from another fucking virus. Getting fed up of them really, but once again, all I want is meat. Anything else makes me feel nauseous

I noticed this a little while ago, feeling unwell and tired and craving meat, turns out I'm anaemic. Might be worth getting some blood tests

Allnewtometoo · 01/10/2024 23:22

Yes to anaemia. I crave beef/steak.

Soubriquet · 01/10/2024 23:28

I already know I have anaemia. I take prescription strength iron every day

I’m the opposite - whenever i’m ill, protein and fruit and veg turn my stomach for ages and all I want are plain salty carbs!

MeandBobbyMcGoo · 01/10/2024 23:36

When I'm ill and grieving, I crave meat.

Toast cures everything!

When I was really anemic and during pregnancy I craved meat, I actually grossed out my husband and the staff at a steak house once because I just devoured 2 very bloody steaks unhealthily quickly.

However when I'm ill all I want is marmite sandwiches and lucozade or what was lucozade in the 80s not the stuff they sell now.

Not when I'm unwell but every so often I get a craving for a massive burger, cooked slightly pink (I don't like steak)

Went out for lunch the other day and ordered one and it's so usual now that my dad sighed and went "you've got low iron again haven't you" GrinBlush
