Hi guys,

Looking for some advice, I have a Boxing Day birthday girl who will be 6 this year. So financially parties end up feeling like a big spend along side Christmas, as we usually celebrate with family on her birthday and then do something with friends too… this year she has her “special friends” who would be either 7 best friends or all the girls in the class plus a cousin 13-15 and I’d like to find something to do with them that doesn’t cost a huge amount.

I have no idea what to do!!!! HELP

At that age, DD had a science party. It was bigger so we hired someone but there are lots of experiments you can do at home. It might work to get your niece involved, if your DD is interested in this kind of thing.

The following year we did a pizza making party at home where we decorated aprons then made pizza.

Are they sparkles and glitter girls or outdoorsy girls?

Craft - go to Hobbycraft and pick up a cardboard letter of their initials, the glue, brushes and some of the deco patch paper. Or any other craft that takes their fancy eg jam jars and glass pens.

Movie party: set out the living room with floor cushions so there are rows, provide popcorn and drinks with curly reusable straws (to take home instead of party bags), pick a film they might not have seen (ET or Big for example) , hot dogs in the 'interval', ice cream Cones or little tubs.
If you want more then arrange a little craft for afterwards related to the film in some way.

Is she into crafting type activities, where they could make friendship bracelets or paint decorative sets or make dreamcatchers or something? Or more cheap DIY disco type activities, or animal focused do you know anyone with a pony they could meet, or invite someone who can do passable face painting to come paint all their faces and play party games at home...

What are her interests?

She's into crafts, cooking etc very much a girly girly who also likes being outdoors. She will be making crafts with glitter singing to Taylor swift one minute and the next racing her brother to the park.

I have enquired at pizza express, it's a set price per head and feel like she will love it. But I do love all the craft ideas. I just feel like i wouldn't be a good "just" for 10-12 6 year olds. I do like the idea of my niece getting involved though - she's 16 and I think she and my daughter would love it.

Thank you

Themed craft parties are always fun. Maybe Ballet, unicorn, rainbow or princess. Baker Ross have some sweet craft kits that are easy and mess free so won't be too much clearing up! My daughter loves their charm bracelet kits and their mermaid themed craft kits!

We've done pottery painting the last couple of years.
