St George's Hospital Tooting Children's A+E Question.

Does anyone who works at or regularly uses St George's Hospital know if 16 year olds can still use the children's A+E or are they sent to the adult one?
It doesn't say on their website.
(This isn't an emergency right now....this is for future reference)
Thanks 🙂

Any 16 year old trying to use a children's A&E will be directed to use an adult A&E facility

@AndYaKnowAndYaKnow I was checking online last night because I know it does vary.
Kings College and Guys/St Thomas let 16 and 17 year olds use the children's A+E.
St George's is slightly easier for us to get to though.

My 17yo son was sent by our GP to St George's A&E a few months ago, and they saw him in the children's A&E.

Needmorelego · 01/10/2024 11:47

@RockaLock thank you. That is good to know and very helpful.
Croydon insisted it had to be the adult one 🙁

i'm sure they'll re-direct you if necessary.

Needmorelego · 01/10/2024 11:50

@alexdgr8 thanks. It's handy to know in advance. We can pretty much get to Croydon or St G's easiest - chose Croydon and being sent the main A+E was not fun 🙁

I always avoid Mayday whenever I can Grin

DS1's visit was in April, and he was actually only a few months off being 18 at the time.

DH took him, and when they checked in at the main A&E desk they got sent over to the children's A&E.

@RockaLock the children's A+E at Mayday isn't too bad. I'm a sad to discover we've aged out.
