I have a gigantic spot on my chin

So I get spots every now and then.

And then I get HUGE spots. Omg I’ve got one right now on my chin, I think it’s a white head maybe filled with some blood too. It’s unsightly.

What can I do to make it go away? A few friends have told me those spot star patches are good?!

Toothpaste for tonight

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 30/09/2024 22:39

If it's got a white head on I'd be picking it!

Chipsintheair · 30/09/2024 22:39

Watching. I get those spots way too often.

I would be squeezing the ever-loving fuck out of it until I had a hole in my face that then took weeks to heal.

We cannot advise without a picture…

EngineEngineNumber9 · 30/09/2024 22:41

Sometimes Germolene and a plaster overnight draws it out.

thebigL · 30/09/2024 22:42

I'd get myself over to Sporner Corner, post a pic - very important - and get advice!

BoundaryGirl3939 · 30/09/2024 22:43

Sudocrem

SkaneTos · 30/09/2024 22:43

Can you squeeze it carefully, with clean hands?
And then clean the area.

Orangesandlemons4 · 30/09/2024 22:44

so I’ve caught it now taking my make up off and it’s bleeding argh!

Fun fact I’ve never squeezed a spot in my life! I’ve either picked them (bad I know) or caught them by accident

Tea tree oil. Miracle worker.

Icanseeinthedark · 30/09/2024 22:45

Metanium nappy rash cream. It works wonders on my hormonal acne.

  1. Cover your fingertips with tissue.
  2. Squeeze until gunk is out. You’ll know it’s done when only blood and no white stuff is emerging!
  3. Dab with wet cotton wool or similar.
  4. Cover with toothpaste until you can get to shops tomorrow.
shivermetimbers77 · 30/09/2024 22:48

Hot compress (eg flannel in hot water wrung out and held over the spot), hold for 10 minutes then dry off, put some antiseptic cream on it and a spot stocker if you have one. Take an ibuprofen.

justsaxy · 30/09/2024 22:49

Photo or it didn't happen

loropianalover · 30/09/2024 22:50

I never pick or pop them, but hot flannel/hot compress always works best for me.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/09/2024 22:52

Cleanse as usual and then a warm clean wash cloth on it and then either a pimple patch or nappy cream/zinc paste, suedocreme is good.

Meadowfinch · 30/09/2024 22:57

wash it using Tea tree oil on a hot sterile flannel Apply it gently to the spot, and allow the heat to open the pore.

Leave it over night and it should be reduced by the morning.

Orangesandlemons4 · 30/09/2024 22:59

Thanks all…

This is making me realise why I probably get spots in the first place, because I don’t look after my skin properly. I only take my make up, don’t cleanse or moisturise eek.

what do pimple patches actually do?

Spookyseason1 · 30/09/2024 23:02

If it’s on your chin its most likely hormonal! I don’t have spot prone skin but the week before I come on one random fucker always appears on the chin.

Orangesandlemons4 · 30/09/2024 23:09

my period just finished though so don’t know why I’m getting spots now!

Zovrix cold sore patches have changed my life for spots! I get bad hormonal acne on my chin and jaw line and these really help! Take the inflammation right down! Expensive but good!

sleepdeprivationismyname · 30/09/2024 23:12

Your period just finished meaning that your hormones are rising (i'd assume) to try to allow for ovulation. I find I get spots 2x a month and it's definitely tied to hormones. The pimple patch things are incredible. I just got into them after 25 years of picking/squeezing/having an occasional hole in my face caked over with makeup. Put a patch on the area before bed, wake up, it is largely gone. It is also so satisfying seeing the patch in the morning.

BeardofHagrid · 30/09/2024 23:13

Benzoyl peroxide then salicylic acid, twice a day. Cover it with a plaster when you can, I.e. at bedtime.
