Since when has it become ‘Cosy season’?

I seemed to be seeing the term ‘cosy season’ being banded about everywhere. Is that replacing the term Autumn, or just a marketing tool? Or another Americanism? Wasn’t aware of it before.

It'll be some nonsense or whatever

Blarn · 30/09/2024 21:23

I assumed a way for shops to sell more blankets.

ThisTimeNextWeekDavid · 30/09/2024 21:23

Marketing tool. ‘Must buy new things to be cozy with’. It’s all bollocks (and shite, landfill built on the back of modern slavery bollocks at that).

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 30/09/2024 22:03

I bought some cosy blankets for autumn. 20 years later they're still here on our settee, in constant use. It's not all shite.

Blame Tik Tok/influencer/internet twats.

Can't blame the USA for this, poor bastards get enough abuse for baby showers and "gender" reveals...

It's the monsoon season

BobbyBiscuits · 30/09/2024 22:11

I'd say it's to sell stuff. It used to be 'hygge' or whatever they were calling it. Basically buy some autumnal related tat that isn't explicitly Halloween themed, as that would be just sooooo tacky! 🙄

Definitely this
Like so many things

"cosy" season winds me right up. Nothing cosy about getting up in the freezing cold at 7am and it's still dark outside and it's pissing down with rain...then the whole day is grey and damp.. everything is just more difficult in the dark, cold and wet. Cosy my arse.

Comedycook · 30/09/2024 22:16

And where are these crisp autumn mornings the cosy lovers are always going on about...it's just pure drizzle here

maudelovesharold · 30/09/2024 22:19

Cosy my arse

A nice heated cushion would be perfect for that!

TheChosenTwo · 30/09/2024 22:21

I hate the word, it’s so fucking twee. I like being warm at home and lighting the fire etc but ‘snuggling together on the sofa under a blanket’ is not for me. I want to be on my own thanks. The word snuggling can also fuck off actually.

Autumnismyfavouritetimeofyear · 30/09/2024 22:23

Never heard of it when I lived in the US. Although I do notice more autumn decor like I used to see around Thanksgiving over there. It always used to crack me up with Americans asked me what I did for Thanksgiving in the UK!
