Sober October 2024

Is anyone doing Sober October this year?

I haven't seen any threads yet (I don't want to double up on threads) so forgive me if there is one already!

I'd love to set up a thread where we can all band together and share how it goes (and have support if needed).

So to kick things off, what's made you decide to do sober October this year?

It's my first ever sober October (I did my first ever dry January earlier this year). However, I found my drinking has had a slow creep and I want a bit of a reset.

I am still on the teas @middleagedspreading :) - waiting to get super sick of them! I think I may need a new one soon to try keep it a bit more fresh! Ginger beers and San Pellegrino sounds epic!

I have also added in a Trip in the night before bed while I am watching a show ha!

I am definitely feeling the energy boost! And I wake up in the mornings a lot more fresh! But I am not going to lie, today I really craved a big glass of red wine.

We are about 39% through, so a third of the way done and getting to the halfway mark! I hope everyone has been having a smooth ride so far!
How is everyone doing?

Doing it for the first time this year. There’s been a few days where I would have loved to grab a glass of wine at the end of the day but resisting so far!

Also doing it this year after an overindulgent summer. I don't feel any more energetic but I am sleeping better so hopefully that will come. I'm plodding through a huge selection of herbal teas which I keep buying and shoving to the back of a cupboard. This is the first night I've really fancied a drink so I've gone to read in bed instead!

Aw brilliant, glad everyone's doing well.

I'm mainly drinking ginger beer and Diet Coke.

The weekend has triggered me a little bit, especially having snacks and the boxing on but I'm staying strong

Another perk - my DP has said I've not snored once this past week

I was just about to go to bed with an alcohol free beer and a movie, but our area has had a massive power cut

I have a flashlight and a big candle, but no idea what I'm supposed to do now! DC is younger and just fallen asleep and DH is at work.

I’m a strange mix between desperately wanting to crack open a bottle of wine and thinking not drinking is the best thing ever.

I must have saved a fortune, I reckon me and DH would normally have polished off at least 6 bottles of wine in the time I’ve been doing this. And if I go to the shop to buy wine, I end up buying crisps, nuts etc so I think we must have saved loads. And loads of calories too!

Hi all, feel I can definitely complete the month now! Another ginger beer fan & DH is happily having the Guinness 0% as an alternative.
Not sure I can genuinely feel any health benefits - don’t think was drinking enough, but do feel like I have more time.

Everyone ok?

It’s been a bitch of a month ending up today with finding out our kitten might have epilepsy. Still resisting though.
