But no im sitting on my arse doing fuck all about it. I'm also way to hot because the sun is shining into my large windows. Do I have curtains.. nope they feel down months ago . Have I done anything anything about it. No fuck all .

I've sat here stuffing my face all day too if it helps?!

I have done some washing and tidying and hoovering.

Tomorrrow I will batch cook. And have tip slot booked for my microwave that blew last week. Plus I'll wash and tumble bedding.

But I'm a FT LP to a now adult but disabled ds and he's away with my dad and brother for the weekend. He's also a swimmer so I'm up before sunrise 5 days a week. So instead of doing things I actually have time for I'm doing nothing beyond what must be done.

Sometimes it good for the soul to fuck off the jobs that need doing for the sake of just being and doing nothing.

@Ghostyghost are you peri menopausal/menopausal? I'm only asking because I've developed into the Queen of Procrastination. I don't think I've done much today but if I write it down I have at least done something. Top up food shopping, prepared 1.5kg vegetables to make piccalilli tomorrow, washed dishes, hung clothes out to dry, responded to the senders of 2 Postcrossing postcards received and spent the rest of the time doom scrolling the internet.

If I make a things I have done list there are more things done than ticked on a things to do list.

I'm confused by your post I don't understand it ? What's procrastination mean?

But yes I think so .didn't have a period for 3 months 🥳 then I was like Carrie ( the movie) last week . And when I speak to my older kids all my sentences start with I don't know if I told you this but..

I have days like this. I set a timer and do 15m of stuff. I always feel better.

Definitely sounds like you deserve a break . I hope your enjoying your alone time . It's definitely good to have them days especially when you have so much going on weather physically or emotionally or both .

I batch cook now and then but it gos out of the window. And often no one wants it.

The only way to get rid of a large and heavy backpack full of stones is to gradually remove one stone at a time.

I'm going to remember this. Thank you. It makes perfect sense. I'm a procrastinator extraordinaire and I think I need reminding that one little thing helps more than nothing.

Deargodletitgo · 21/09/2024 18:01

I have a big to do list, plus the joys of a fridge freezer that seems to be toying with the idea of dying. Did I do all the list? No. Did I watch a lot of tik toks? Yes. But I did also tell myself that a X pm I would get up and do 1 job, and I did, so some painting done, lawns done, errands run. And now a reward of a takeaway and crap TV. And maybe a few more tik toks.

I'm also a big believer of a 5 minute timer and see what you can get done (shit loads usually)

Crunchymum · 21/09/2024 18:20

Are you a regular with a name change?

Deathraystare · 21/09/2024 18:21

I do this a lot. However, this weekend I was going to do loads of laundry (don't have own machine) but only took a shopping trolley load so far and no tidying up! Unfortunately I was called to work for a late shift and now for an early one tomorrow! The person that takes Monday off often deicides to be ill if she is supposed to work at the weekends and she has done it again. We know because as soon as she comes into work she is looking at the rota, planning it all.

That's an arse . Can no one say anything to her if it's a pattern ? Sounds like you will be pretty tired after that to be honest.

And when you get going it becomes addictive. Do each task separately but make it the most important job when you do it. Focus. This is what successful people do.

The analogy actually came from my daughters' book many years ago. I think it is called The Huge Bag of Worries or similar.

Fescue · 21/09/2024 18:33

Further to my earlier post about my curtains, I also have a duvet made of Eider feathers. Now this duvet gets really down. When it does it is down down. I tell my duvet "It's OK, you are just made that way."

@Fescue thanks

Focus is the key. It's so easy to get distracted. I shall look for your daughter's book.

  1. Write a list of things to do tomorrow - and then do them first thing before you have chance to get demotivated - and tick each one off as you do it.
  2. After writing it give yourself the rest of the day off.

Omg yes I had a super king feather duvet. I couldn't even lift it. Mine definitely down. In the dumps.

@Ghostyghost procrastination - delaying something that needs to be done because it's boring or unpleasant.

TroysMammy · 21/09/2024 18:54

@Ghostyghost I write out things that I've done ie prepped veg, washed dishes.

However if I'd faffed around thinking of things to write on a things to do list then

  1. it would take me forever, see the meaning of procrastination and
  2. I wouldn't do half that is on it, again see the meaning of procrastination.
Fescue · 21/09/2024 18:55

My great grandmother used to say "Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday, and all is well".

My great grandfather didn't say much.

Fescue · 21/09/2024 18:57

Yes, focus. There is as much beauty doing ugly things as there are doing beautiful things. It all counterbalances.

Procrastination is a word I won't remember or recognise. Even though you explained the meaning on your other post . When I looked at it on this post. It's still like seeing a word I have never seen before. It's like having one word in Chinese and then the other ones in English. I can't even say the word in my head I can't actually read the word . Sorry I'm going on a bit don't know how to explain it.
