Class WhatsApp group

Someone started a class WhatsApp group. Only about 7 people have introduced themselves but there's 20 people in it. I'm a bit weirded out by that. How do I know they are actually parents in the class? Is it possible for an outsider to gain access to the chat?

Don’t join it. They cause so much trouble. If there is any important information, the school will let you know and not some random parent.

I like mine. There's helpful chat about things people have forgotten, people asking for and getting last minute help with pick ups, organising drinks. It's all very nice, not intrusive and helpful.

Like anything it depends on who is in it but if you have a nice group of parents, as you may well do, it's a nice to have. Worth OP at least finding out before dismissing it out of hand
