Where to go for 3 nights in August?

Anyone got any ideas/advice?
My mum has actually offered to have my children for 3 nights (for the first time ever in 8 years) for my husband and I to go abroad in August for our anniversary.
The question is where to go?? First world problems I know!
Ideally flying from Birmingham but could possibly do Bristol.
Somewhere with interesting things to do/see, adult only hotels, not too long a flight and preferably not too expensive. A beach would be lovely but not a deal breaker.
We’ve been to Spain a few times so would prefer no Spain/canaries.
Any ideas please? Thanks

Italian lakes…? Fly into Milan, various you can visit.

Lot of fancy hotels, boat trips, hiking, swimming, sailing etc.

We did Sardinia recently for a long weekend. Check out convenient flights from your nearest airport. And stay somewhere c30 minutes from the airport. Cagliari worked for us but check out your options.

Nice, South of France is lovely.
Venice is also wonderful for a romantic getaway.

Dubrovnik in Croatia is well worth a visit, the old towns impressive, boat out to the islands, and beaches around if you want to relax

Lisbon would be perfect

Thank you all, I will do some research on all of these options.

Dubrovnik is one that has caught my eye, only problem is not many direct flights at that time of year which surprised me!

Portugal, Porto or lisbon, Rome is fabulous, Istanbul, Budapest, Vienna, Greek island, Prague, or stay in uk and go somewhere like Chester or York or the lakes.
