How to break light up school shoes...

My son's new school shoes arrived today. I've never seen light up ones without a button... Has anyone ever destroyed the light up function perhaps in the washing machine? They're Asda if that helps. We're non drivers so delivery only, no Asda in reasonable travel distance, and no free returns!

He has pronounced them 'awesome' but I'm fairly sure glowing flames is going to be a problem for school.

Yes, cheap shoes - he's going into year 1 and last year grew 4 sizes and destroyed the m&s ones in 1 month.

Aw me too. And my ds (now 25) would have so loved a pair of these flame ones.

OP, I think I would just claim you didn't know they had this feature when you bought them. And that you will get a replacement pair once you can (which is never). You said his feet have been growing so fast, it probably won't be that long before he grows out of them anyway.

But you know it will just be fate that these will fit way longer and the battery of the lights is just going to keep working forever 😀

OP, don't forget to ask him if he can run fast in his new flame shoes 😀

He's already a size 13 so he'll probably stop growing now and be stuck with them forever 🤣
