I also googled caret - and got purple second!

I can't work out what the red herring was that so many have gone for? I can see two words which seem to go together but no others.

@ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea because it's nearly refreshing, there is one word that is an anagram in each different category (5 letters). I think that's what it is anyway as I spotted it so didn't guess it!

Full disclosure : I was stumped after yellow and asked for help from the DH who got the rest. I had so many 2/3 connections, but none were the right ones apparently.
