Chips dipped in butter

So my kids do eat things like chips chicken nuggets. And similar. So we are not paticularly healthy.

But the kids see their dad every other weekend and the kids just told me they have chips and dip them in butter . I asked does daddy do it to and they said yes when ever they have chips.

It's made me angry /pissed off.

Am I being petty? There's no point me saying anything he will ignore me anyway

Ds had autism and he's extremely hard to feed . So I will. It was only because the dipping chips on butter made no sense to me . But now I have been told different 😅. So I won't worry. I only said about the nuggets because I didn't want to say I'm the perfect parent.

I love a chicken nugget.

And no amount of info about scrapings from the floor can change my mind.

My DS has autism too, and is extremely tiny. Just 5 stone aged 14. Sometimes it's all about the calories for me. He used to eat cheesy chips but sadly stopped. Might try chips and butter.... he loves a good chicken kyiv so maybe we can segue out.

Completely missing point of thread, but .. .

Is that melted butter or a slab of softened butter?🤣

Objectrelations · 30/08/2024 22:05

Some nuggets are breast meat or whole meal etc -my DS is also autistic so I just try and buy the best quality nuggets I can. I would also react to chips in butter as you did OP until i got talked down 🤣

In Mcdonald and Dodds it's just softened butter

I love lots at butter with bread but for some reason chips with butter sound a weird combination for me: bad nutritionally and pure laziness. But it seems I’m in minority, maybe I should try it next time.

soupfiend · 30/08/2024 22:20

How strange to ascribe a characteristic like 'laziness' to a food combo. What does that mean?

What would an energetic food combo look like, chips and mayo (like the Belgians), chips and ketchup, chips and gravy, chips and vinegar?

And why bad nutritionally when bread with butter and potatoes with butter is virtually no different?

WhamBamThankU · 30/08/2024 22:25

@Gigglewiggle87

My DS is also autistic and has literally eaten the same meal for tea almost every day for 5 years. Don't feel bad. I've had dieticians involved and nutritionists and it's proving impossible to get him to entertain anything else. It's not a parenting fail by any means. Flowers

I think she was joking…

I wasn’t. Ketchup is nasty stuff, overly processed and full of additives. Butter is….butter. Natural. Not unhealthy.

GiveMeSomeWaterItsHot · 31/08/2024 09:14

Are you sure it’s not mayo?

Mistycactus · 31/08/2024 09:15

That’s what makes a chip butty taste so nice
