Spending money for an 11 year old

My dd is about to start secondary school and I think it's about time that we started giving her regular spending money. What amount do others give? I can't make up my mind what I'd the right kind of amount. Thanks

£5 a week is usually more than enough at yr 7.

Thank you, that was the amount I was thinking.

Started this age 6 and they get 50p a week, increasing by 50p each birthday. So my eight year old now gets £1.50 a week while my 11 year old gets £3.00 a week.

That’s the base rate but they have the opportunity to double it each week via helping out or doing jobs for us.

Gets paid weekly into a GoHenry account and they have bank cards.

We gave £10 pw in Y7 and £20 in Y9 but that includes having a meal out after the cinema, eg. Any more now and they have to earn it, for instance £10 for washing the cars or cleaning out the chickens or £8 an hour for weeding.

£5 a week doesn't buy much anymore. Dts get £40 per month but no top ups, it actually works out cheaper.

Thanks everyone, I think I might start at £25 a month and see if that works.
