Rat In My Kitchen

3 nights ago my cat jumped in the bathroom window and shortly afterwards I heard a squeak so thought she had a mouse to play with (and kill). I was in bed/half asleep at the time and sort of forgot about it. I have two cats and occasionally they bring in a half alive mouse. Fast forward to this morning, I’m in the kitchen and a suddenly RAT drop through the hole in the kitchen ceiling surrounding the boiler pipes coming through from the upstairs bathroom (holes are about an inch wide). I absolutely shat myself, screamed for about 10 minutes and had a full on panic attack. It sped off (almost flew) and is now in my living room somewhere. I don’t think I’m ever going to get over this. I know it is the ‘mouse’ from the other night and it has been here all that time.

I would order a flame thrower. I am terrified of rats.
If not can you borrow a Jack Russel?

What an absolute nightmare 🥵

This does seem to be one of these situations where the rat hasn’t actually came into your house but has been brought in. Please don’t kill it with a trap when it will most likely want to leave.

I would 100% have packed my bags and left the house and all my possessions to the rat 🙈 But you can get a rat man in who would usually kill them but surely if it’s right next to a door he’d be able to open the door and scare it out easily enough (presuming he’s not scared of them)!

Have you checked up the hole where it came from just in case it wasn’t brought in? Sorry you’re dealing with this, I have shivers at the thought 😬

Cats, even

Electric cat is just the brand name of erm an electric mouse/rat trap, probably more humane than an actual cat or poison but best not to think about how it works too much.
