Thank you @AugustDieSheMustTheAutumnWindsBlowChillyAndCold I've just booked tickets to ENO's Pirates for my birthday!

I'm going too. John Savourin as the Pirate King and Richard Suart as the Major General, I'm excited! I see a LOT of G&S...

My local village but one supposedly has a G&S society, but they haven't been advertising much the last few years. Now I've got time to get involved.

I like Illyria, I saw their Pride and Prejudice a few years ago at Westminster Abbey. Must keep an eye out for them near me.

ENO reliably do some - I think I've seen their Pirates, Iolanthe (excellent) and of course Mikado a few times. I saw Pinafore on Sky Arts and was massively unimpressed by Les Dennis tbh, though the rest of it was good.

Wilton's Music Hall does a lot of small scale G&S. I've seen Ruddigore and an all male Mikado there. Randomly they've got two Pirates in the next 2 months, one all male, one with a cast of six.

I liked the range of parts in the singing - other stuff was less stretching.

And thanks for putting me on to You Tube for this. Ruddigore now playing.

I am happy to report that if anyone is London based, there is an absolutely excellent amateur company doing at least one fully staged G&S a year - Grosvenor Light Opera Company www.gloc.org A bias to declare would be indelicate but I should - I was a member for several years, but it's objectively fab - this year's Yeomen won Best Chorus award at Buxton earlier this month. Do come along!

I’ve seen Illyria doing Pirates twice and it is very good .

I went out with the actor manager of Illyria at University, before he knew he was gay. <outs self>
Was very talented even then.
