The patient I was worried about on Fri is still alive! Not out of the woods yet but better than Fri. And her family visited over the weekend. They weren't answering their phone Fri night and she kept asking for them.

Anyone else got something cheery to share?

And you too @blippitybloppitybloo👊

Friend just popped round with one of her delicious home made quiches!

@LiterallyOnFire I have been trying walk whenever I can, I also have 2 young boys that keep me on my toes. I get a lot of fatigue and am supposed to be taking life more slowly...but pretty impossible with a young family.

What I have is a life limiting so I feel like by doing this challenge (even though it is a small one), is a big middle finger up to this stupid illness! I'm trying to use that as my motivator...

And thank you @theriseandfallofFranklinSaint ☺️

No one is beating the opening posts win but I did go on my first 2024 bike ride today. I am a fair weather cyclist these days.

Ah these are so lovely!
Well done all.

I have managed to finish an admin task that has been nagging at me for weeks; also having been away for a week this week I managed to clean and dust upstairs (no one does this stuff when I am not here) which was very satisfying esp as I got loads of dust from various nooks and crannies.

The washing line collapsed and I fixed it (not very permanently but good enough). And I found DS2's missing trousers (too late for our trip but better than never).

My toddler, who has a speech delay, started spontaneously trying to sing "Head, shoulders, knees and toes",
It came out more as "Head, nose, mouse, sausages," but I know what she was aiming for and it was lovely.

longdistanceclaraclara · 11/08/2024 19:11

Very dull but the weather means I've got 7 loads of washing done and very nearly all dry now - just back from holiday.

clary · 11/08/2024 19:13

ah yes @longdistanceclaraclara same on the washing (three loads not seven but still) - hence my joy at the hastily mended line

PoodlesRUs · 11/08/2024 21:04

If anyone is curious...we've got one lung cleared! The woman is far from out the woods yet but I'm happy about her improvement :-)

A vintage necklace which I got for £1 at a car boot sale this morning, and which is actually worth about £30.

I'd love to see it.

I'd love to see it.

It's not very exciting - my phone is playing up so I can't take a photo, but it is basically vintage beads with several edelweiss flowers along it. 1950's possibly, maybe earlier.

tothelefttotheleft · 12/08/2024 16:13

@invisiblecat

It sounds lovely and was an incredible bargain!

HMTheQueenMuffin · 12/08/2024 16:17

aaah lovely thread!

Mine is that my older DS who has autism and severe social issues went out with a new friend today for a Costa coffee and a wander down the beach. He was so scared beforehand that he was shaking and having nightmares. When I picked them both up 20 minutes ago they were both buzzing with their nice day.

I think her version is much better than the original tbh. Smile

It rained fairly heavily over the garden at around 10 am and that means I no longer have to water it later, nor the ridiculous number of pots. I shall spend the time instead planting some more salad leaves and having another cup of tea.

Ineedaholidayagain · 12/08/2024 16:24

I took my teens out today for a ikea/ costo trip. Watching them eating their ikea lunch I realised how wonderful and proud I am of them and how much I appreciate these days with them (they are 15 and don't want to spend time with me normally). My teen boys are amazing.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 12/08/2024 16:29

Our kids went back to school today. They both let me take photos! DS came home from his new school (autism class) smiling and TALKING! He even showed one of the teachers the pictogram calendar of the summer holidays I'd made and told them about the German bunkers from WW2 that we'd seen!

Sitting out in the fresh air after my penultimate day in work. Only one more day left working in that he'll hole.

Congratulations!

I left a hell hole 3 years ago and the difference it has made to my entire life is unbelievable.

AtmosAtmos · 12/08/2024 18:10

Congratulations to so many here and associated DHs and DCs

i managed a day at work, an hour in I thought I would have to go off sick (stress) Not a long term fix but one day at a time

Brunonononooo · 12/08/2024 18:15

My six year old son is at football camp this week and I have been really worried about it as he can be quite shy and doesn’t like to be left at anything without myself or my husband. But today he went straight in and joined in even though his friends hadn’t arrived yet and I was so proud of him! Not a big thing but a big thing for him and us as a family that his confidence is building.

I was offered a job after 9 months of looking for a new job after being made redundant - it's the highest wage I've ever had and great opportunity that will open new doors! Needed this!

AtmosAtmos · 17/08/2024 13:56

This is yesterday but I spoke to my union about something at work and feel soo much better even though not everything is resolved
