Scents that you bizarrely hate!

I’ll go first..

Newspapers and new books are my nemesis! Books are usually manageable but I have genuinely never been able to bring myself to willingly touch a newspaper, I don’t even like being in the same room as them due to the smell🤣 Wish I was joking..

Anyone else have a strange dislike to a smell that would be inoffensive to most other people?

I hate the smell of freshly cut grass.

Which people always say on 'smells you love' threads.

So I feel you!

JackJarvisEsq · 10/08/2024 21:02

Lavender

why so many cleaning products and washing powders have this scent is beyond me it’s fucking awful

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 10/08/2024 21:03

Rose smells. Actual roses I like sniffing but anything rose scented smells like horrible cloying death to me. Even the ‘posh’ ones.

I don't think I'm the only one who dislikes it, but deepheat cream makes me feel physically ill, i find it stomach churning.
I also absolutely hate the smell of yorkshire tea bags ....

Oh goodness yes. Natural rose is lovely but the artificial scent of them is so sickening. We had a house guest who wore strong rose perfume - the smell genuinely lingered in the dining room for months

Clinique happy. The irony.

It was my perfume when I was in my late teens and during the worst phase of my life when I was dragged for a forced termination then had a total breakdown. If I ever smell it now I have a panic attack.

thistimelastweek · 10/08/2024 21:12

Lavender, roses and worst of all, lilies.

TylerEndicott · 10/08/2024 21:13

Freshly baked bread
Cooked cheese

It's a problem in our house when someone is eating cheese on toast...

OKherewegoagain · 10/08/2024 21:14

Ralgex, the smell is utterly rank.

LoveRosesClimbing · 10/08/2024 21:15

Clinique Eau dynamisante
green Fairy liquid
Loads of washing powders smell as bit like wee to me

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/08/2024 21:16

Lilies. They also set off my hay-fever.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 10/08/2024 21:17

Palma Violet sweets. Have to leave the room if i smell them, and secretly suspect anyone who likes them of not being fully human.

NashvilleQueen · 10/08/2024 21:17

Freshly brewed coffee.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/08/2024 21:18

Lilies. Petrol. Coconut.

notprincehamlet · 10/08/2024 21:18

Milky hot drinks especially tea. Also roast dinners (I've made too many of the bloody things).

AnneLovesGilbert · 10/08/2024 21:19

Chanel no 5
Tea with milk in

itsallbowlsbaby · 10/08/2024 21:20

Bitumen. Cigars. Petrol.

Belindabelle · 10/08/2024 21:20

Vanilla anything.

merryandbrightdelight · 10/08/2024 21:22

Lavender, roses and worst of all, lilies.

All of the above!

Belindabelle · 10/08/2024 21:23

@itsallbowlsbaby I love all those. As a child I used to sniff shoe polish. When pregnant I had a form of pica where I loved the smell of paint, tar etc.

Poggishairtufts · 10/08/2024 21:23

Milky coffee, tomato leaves, cigarettes

Domoda · 10/08/2024 21:24

Most perfumes smell rank to me.

Sparrowball · 10/08/2024 21:28

All Chanel perfumes, they're just cloying, old woman in the 1960/70s smells to me. Estee Lauder's ironically named Youth Dew is the same.

Okdaisy · 10/08/2024 21:29

All perfume. Hate the stuff.

Amandasummers · 10/08/2024 21:31
